Game On Program
What is Game On?
Game On! Uses a mentor approach to provide boys with information and support to make informed choices about healthy lifestyle practices. Through non-traditional physical activities, complemented with healthy eating information, participants are engaged in life skills, communication and emotional health discussions designed to engage participants in the pursuit of life-long healthy lifestyles. Sessions are loosely structured around four themes: physical activity, healthy eating, self-esteem, and communication skills.
Game On! Volunteers are active and healthy men aged 18 and up.
What Game On Volunteers Do:
Spend 75 minutes per week with a group of boys, for eight weeks.
Facilitate a non-academic curriculum including activities, sports, snacks and nutrition discussion, team building and communication skill development.
Hang out with approximately ten boys with another volunteer while being supported by a staff member at the school.
Training takes place at the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Weyburn office and is flexible depending on your schedule. Sessions start at various times throughout the year.
